Google adds presentation ability
Google announced a sibling for its Document and Spreadsheet online applications today. Presentations provides an online alternative to Microsoft’s PowerPoint and Apple’s Keynote.
The things we like:
- Online collaboration, including change log with RSS feed
- Ability to present online, including chat
- Hyperlinking, integration with Docs and Spreadsheet
- Ability to publish to web, useful for easy tutorial creation
- Decent collection of pre-made templates
And the other stuff:
- Though expected of Google, somewhat clunky interface
- Apparently no animation or effects features
The bottom line is that this addition makes the entire suite a must-use application, in our opinion. We’ve seen very few web apps that use AJAX to this extent to create an experience that feels like a good off-line application.
